Weavings of War, Exhibit Oct. 5 - Nov. 27
Weavings of War, Fabrics of Memory is an exhibit of traditional textiles made by women
in developing countries/regions from around the globe, including South Africa, Vietnam,
Peru, and the Middle East. It features pieces from more than 10 ethnic, linguistic, or
national groups. Although these are traditional hand-made textiles, the exhibit is
very modern. While the pieces were made in different parts of the world for different
purposes, each artist has incorporated images of conflict and violence to illustrate the
ravages of modern warfare on her country and community.
